Life & career coaching with Ray Warren

I have over 20 years of international business experience working with large multinational
organisations such as Diageo and Electrolux.
During that time I have held senior positions as Finance Director and CFO in a wide range of
businesses across Europe, the Far East and North America.
This has allowed me to build a very broad commercial knowledge and gain personal experience
of delivering change programmes and business projects which impact on the performance
of the organisation.

My approach to managing change has at its core a holistic approach that assesses how the
programme fits into the strategic, tactical, competence and behavioural make up of the organisation.
It focuses on aligning the stakeholders in the change programme and in particular the key resource;
the people who have to work in the new environment.

I have completed the second year of an MSc in Change Agent Skills and Strategies at Surrey
University, and am starting my dissertation. I believe that this combination of understanding the
processes of change and real experience in the commercial world gives me a very
differentperspective.
It allows me to use the insights and models of many of the leading thinkers of today whilst
remaining grounded in the business need to deliver results.
In addition to helping organisations manage change I have been developing my executive coaching practice over the last two years.

My focus has been to work with senior finance leaders where my background allows me to empathise and to speak their language.
I have also worked with a CEO, and a Senior Production Manager.
I teach on post graduate course at West London College where I am responsible for the Organisational Change module.

Coaching Achievements

• CFO of HSBC Bank in Republic of Ireland. Working with a coaching team to support the Executive team of the bank and improve team communication and cohesiveness.

• CEO of a specialist recruitment firm. Assisting to build a picture of and strategy for future growth of the organisation.

• CFO and senior finance team Marconi Plc. Working with the CFO on introducing major change in the team. Focusing on building consensus and communication.

• Senior Production Manager Kodak. Focusing on career development plan.

Change Management Achievements

• Redesigning the Finance Function of a FTSE 250 company. Working at Marconi Corporation Plc to assist in the redesign of the finance function and to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the organisation. A new organisational model was conceived and implemented. Costs were reduced by almost £ 3m (10% of original cost) through the reduction of duplication of work and focus on key management tasks.

• Strategic review of an IT shared service provider for Electrolux in Europe and the US (€160m cost base and 650 staff). This led to the successful implementation of a new business model. It included the creation of a cost recovery model that was linked directly to the true fixed and variable elements of IT costs for the Group. The structure was proposed, designed and implemented in 14 months

• Reorganisation of production in India. Chosen to lead a project for Electrolux International Division concerning $30 million reorganisation of production in India. A full review of market demand and factory capacity was conducted. This led to a recommendation to the AB Electrolux Board to close 3 factories

• New organisation for European CFO. Proposed and designed the implementation plans for a reorganisation of 14 Country CFOs down to 4 Regional CFOs for Electrolux in Europe. The plan was implemented and led to annual cost reduction of around € 250k.

• Introduction of Managing for Value. Part of the Diageo team which introduced and implemented Managing for Value and Economic Profit in the Group that changed the approach to doing business and to decision support. It also included working with HR on remuneration and benefits packages that were congruent with Managing for Value.
